Snow

I LOVE the snow, I love the cold, and I love winter. I know.. it makes driving to school or work more difficult at times, but there are still good things that come with it. Like how snow makes everything look more beautiful or how every snowflake out there is unique. Each year it snows, my family FaceTimes our relatives in the Philippines because all they know is heat and rain... and they are SO amazed every single time. One of the reasons why I love living in New Jersey is that we get to experience every season and the different types of weather that come with it. I'm grateful because not everyone out there gets to experience building a snowman, or spring flowers blooming after a dreary winter, or sun beating on your face as you lay on the beach, or even the foliage of fall leaves on the ground. Maybe it's just the kid in me. Maybe it's because it reminds me of the holidays and LOTS of food. Maybe it's because I like shoveling. Or maybe it's because I actually enjoy getting "stuck" at home with my family. I don't know what it is but I love the snow.

Beacon, NY

So last month, on the weekend before our five year anniversary, I took my usual Greyhound bus up to NYC. Right before we went out to dinner, Kyle surprised me with some exciting news - we were going up to Beacon, NY for the rest of the weekend! I know I know.. Beacon is no Florida or Cancun, however, it's someplace new that both of us have never been to, and considering we usually see each other every other weekend, anytime spent together is a vacation for me.

Anyway, Beacon was awesome. and COLD. We took the train up and pretty much walked everywhere from there. It's a small, quaint town, so everything - food, bars, coffee shops, convenient stores - was on this two mile strip. We stayed at this cozy AirBnB, and I highly recommend this awesome home to anyone thinking about taking a trip up there.

Here is a video I put together :)

Did you know that Beacon is home to one of the last dummy lights in the world?

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog & thanks for stopping by! Here are a few things about myself! :)

I'm a HUGE family-oriented girl. My family is the greatest support system I could ever ask for and I am so grateful for their endless love and encouragement. My parents grew up in the Philippines and left their hometown, family, and everything they knew to start a better life in America for me and my brother. They are a constant example of what true love, sacrifice, and hard work really means.

I am a romantic, who is lucky enough to still be dating her high school sweetheart. I met Kyle in my junior year of high school and we quickly became the best of friends. We started dating in our senior year and went off to different colleges, in different states, 320 miles away from each other... but who's counting? Let me be the first to tell you that long distance relationships are HARD, but doable. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, right?

I enjoy capturing special moments, whether it be through photos or through videos. My parents always had a camera at hand, whether it's their phone, point-and-shoot, or DSLR. They reminded me of why it is they love to take pictures so much. It's really easy to get technical about a shot, or a video, however, that's not what's important. I love taking pictures because of the memories each photograph holds - how just a single glance can have me reliving in that specific moment of my life. And that's what's important - being able to freeze time and hold onto something forever. Videos are equally as valuable. What's so amazing with videography is that it's real. There's no photoshop involved and how beautiful is that?

I'm a foodie. I love all things food, especially ice cream. It's crazy how food is a huge sensory experience. The smell of flavors as you open the ice cream store, the sight of a perfectly swirled cone, the sound of jimmies topping the ice cream, the feeling of ice cream dripping down the sides on a hot summer day, and finally the taste of heaven! YUM. I truly believe that food brings everyone together, a common ground in all cultures, all over the world.

I love where I live. I lived in Atlantic City, NJ for about ten years, so the ocean was always my backyard. Although I now live in a town right out of the city, I still find myself at the beach plenty of times throughout the year. There's just something magical about how sound of the waves hitting the shore makes me feel at home.
